This piece was created for the Etsy Beadweavers' Challenge, "Ancestral Expressions". Since I am a Jewish and Israeli woman I have created something from my ancestors heritage - the Bible . Hoshen is mentioned in the Bible as the sacred breastplate worn by the Jewish high priest. In the biblical account, the breastplate is termed the breastplate of judgement, the Urim and Thummim, which were used in divination. Precious stones were placed within it, one stone for each of the 12 Israeli tribes. According to the Talmud, the wearing of the Hoshen atoned for the sin of errors in judgement on the part of the Children of Israel.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! This is breathtaking! I was just reading about the Hoshen today and would love if you would make me one just like this! Can you tell me how much you would charge to make one like this? I would obviously be willing to pay you for it! PLEASE?
